Anti Aging Spa Bar with Avocado, Wheat Germ, & Clay

Here is a cold process recipe with natural ingredients that are packed with super foods containing anti oxidants and vitamins. It contains fresh avocado, wheat germ, and clay. This is an extremely moisturizing bar that will help with age spots and draw out any impurities

This project makes 16 bars with 5 lbs. of oils. Each bar is fairly large weighing 5-6 oz. a piece. For the full recipe to this project, check out the archives listed in the Learning Library where it is ready to be printed for your use.

What you will need for this recipe:

Part 1:

Part 2:

ONE – Measure out your ingredients, and split the oils and lye water into two parts. The entire recipe calls for 5 lbs. of oil and you will be making this in 2 parts at 2.5 lbs. at a time. Carefully make the lye water solution and in two separate bowls, and place them both in the freezer to chill.

TWO - Once 2.5 lbs. of oils and the lye water solution are within 15 degrees from each other. Gently pour the lye water into the oils. Mix this with a sick blender until it is fully incorporated. Add the fragrance oil, pureed avocado, and clay. Mix this entirely. The avocado must be pureed into a fine paste with no visible chunks. Pour the entire contents into a 15x12 slab mold lined with freezer paper. Set this aside to become firm while you work on the second half.

Note: Check out my slab mold. This is a simple 15 x 12 inch box with the top cut off. The box is reinforced with a decorative crafter's duct tape and this one has been as good as new for over a year. You can make this in any size you want, and if the box seems to be getting weak you can wrap it in another layer of tape. It will look like new again. This projects costs about 2 dollars to make and works just as well as any 100 mold. (If you are making more than 16 bars at a time then I would recommend getting yourself a real wooden mold that can handle the weight)

THREE - The second half of the batter is made exactly the same as the first half. Gently add the lye solution to the oils, and blend this with a stick blender into it is completely emulsified. Add the fragrance oil, and the wheat germ. Blend this well until it is completely mixed. Gently pour this over the top of the clay layer without disturbing the first layer so that the soap glides over the top. Completely pour this on top and set the slab aside to set up for 24 hours.

FOUR - After 24 hours, remove the slab by pulling the entire piece out of the mold by the wax paper. Measure and score the pieces at 3 inches by 3.5 inches and cut. This soap needs to be set aside to cure for 4 - 6 weeks
